## Context:
The Protection Project Manager will lead NRC’s protection programmes in North Darfur, Sudan, with a primary focus on the Protection from Violence (PfV) portfolio. The role is responsible for ensuring effective project cycle management and high quality programme delivery in line with NRC strategies and donor requirements. The position will also support capacity building of project staff through mentoring and technical guidance. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong coordination, communication, and advocacy skills, engaging effectively with stakeholders while ensuring timely and accurate reporting on programme progress and challenges.
## What you will do:
The Protection Project Manager leads the implementation and coordination of protection programmes, ensuring quality delivery in line with NRC strategies and donor requirements. The role includes managing staff, budgets, and activities, overseeing protection monitoring, case management, and referrals, and ensuring assistance targets the most vulnerable populations. It also involves contributing to programme design and needs assessments, strengthening staff and partner capacity, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring effective reporting, advocacy, and compliance.
Generic responsibilities:
1. Line management of project staff
2. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
3. Contribute to the development of Country, Nile Area and Protection strategies.
4. Initiate and participate in the development of relevant Protection projects
5. Coordinate and manage Protection project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
6. Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects
7. Provide regular information to the Area Programme Manager and the Protection Specialist
8. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of Protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
9. Develop and manage project budgets and coordinate across CCs, making sure that projects are aligned to Integrated Programming
10. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
11. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
12. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
Specific responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate and manage Protection Core Competency (CC) projects in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
- Document protection risks and develop advocacy messaging to reduce violence, coercion and deliberate deprivation
- Oversee protection monitoring, case management, referral mechanism.
- Responsible for Protection specific input and participation in needs assessments, planning and implementation of responses to new emergencies, as well as to protracted displacement
- Responsible for Protection specific contextual analysis and to take leadership in the Nile area office Protection programme design and delivery, in consultation with Protection Specialist and other Protection team members
- Establish an excellent working relation with donors, international and national organizations, local authorities, clusters/sectors, CBOs and communities
- Work on the NRC’s Local partners capacity building and maintain regular follow up on their activities.
- Participate in all Protection coordination forums.
- Prepare all Project operational documents in timely manner (HR Plans, Procurement plans, Work plans, Spending Plans, etc.)
- Maintain close coordination and reporting with the Country office and Area Office M&E Team.
What you will bring:
1\. Professional competencies:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in overseeing project implementation in a humanitarian/violent context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, including protracted displacement
- Ability to manage teams in multiple office locations
- Ability to analyze and integrate quantitative and qualitative data and information from different sources
- Good knowledge and understanding of international standards, and protection fundamental concepts and guiding principles
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Speaking Arabic is a plus.
**Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience**:
- Demonstrated expertise in Protection.
- Knowledge of the context in Sudan.
## What we offer
- Duty station: Sudan, North Darfur (Tawila)
- Salary/benefits: grade 8 of NRC’s international pay scale
- Duration of Contract: 1 year, fixed term
- Travel: 30-40%
